1999 Isuzu Amigo Review
The 1999 Isuzu Amigo took a short sabbatical and came back pumped, primed and
ready to party. Its funky, sporty look spells out a three lettered word--F-U-N.
This semi-convertible mini-SUV is designed and marketed to attract the younger
market. Offered in both the hard top and soft top versions, the Isuzu Amigo is
available in two engine configurations and two transmission options.
The Amigo is the shorter version of the Isuzu Rodeo with whom it shares the same
powertrain, sheet metal and other aspects. It's fitted with a 2.2-liter, 16-DOHC,
in-line engine and a 3.2-liter, 24-DOHC V6 engine is available for the Isuzu Amigo,
this can be matched to a 4-speed automatic overdrive or a 5-speed manual overdrive
transmission in the rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The interior of the Isuzu Amigo is simple and no-fuss, dedicating itself to practicality
rather than flare. He dash and instrument panel consists of the basic instrument
and gauges, seats are comfortable though not luxurious or plush and interior space
is a bit cramped owing to the Amigo's stunted size. But overall, the Isuzu Amigo
rates well enough inside because even with its shorter length it is able to provide
up to 62 cu. ft. of cargo space. The Hard Top Amigo brings with it two moon roofs
that are can be slanted or detached from the roof.
